Community Partnerships - Shiksha Kendra
DPS Vadodara started the Shiksha Kendra on 30.08.2003. The Shiksha Kendra is only for the underprivileged children living in the neighbouring areas of the school.
The Shiksha Kendra aims to educate these children so as to prepare them as good citizens of our country. Children in Shiksha Kendra avail education and all the facilities of the school like music, art, sports, field trip etc. free of cost.
- At present there are a total of 62 children. enrolled in Shiksha Kendra. The classes are running upto V standard.
- Subjects covered are English, Gujarati, Environment Science, Mathematics, Music, Sports etc.
- Emphasis on all round development i.e. linguistic, socio-emotional, cognitive, physical.
- Our approach is play way and through first hand experience.
- Children are given uniform, stationery, school bag etc. free of cost.
- Children are given nutritive snacks.
Aims & Objectives
To ensure that global goal of education for all is realized.
To meet the challenge of literacy drive by providing education free of cost to all the underprivileged and the low-income group.
To achieve the women empowerment by ensuring the enrolment of girl child.
To inculcate and implement competency based curriculum to the rural and the downtrodden children.
To involve community in the process of education.
To provide multipurpose education including vocational training.
Major Features of the Programme
To provide, free of cost, all facilities which the regular children avail by paying fees.
To provide activity based joyful child centred learning.
To facilitate all round development/holistic development of the child in the areas of language, numerical cognitive and socio emotional skills.
To provide teaching through multimedia and to give an exposure to new techniques.
To provide pragmatic child centred and effective environment both physically and emotionally.
Extra Benefit
All the facilities that their privileged counterparts enjoy would also be made available to the underprivileged.
Shiksha Kendra provides the same platform to its students to display their skills.
To provide a self reliant and self-sufficient curriculum and also to provide vocational training which prepare them for self-employment.
To develop affinity with nature and fellow creatures, Shiksha Kendra students will be taken for nature walks, picnics and outings.
Shiksha Kendra students would also enjoy field trips as a part of their learning experience.
Education liberates a man. It frees a person from all bondages, all peripheries which narrow the domain of a human being.
