Shri V. K. Shunglu is a distinguished Indian administrator and public servant whose career spans several decades of service in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and in senior positions of national importance.
A highly accomplished administrator, Shri Shunglu served in several important capacities in the Government of India, bringing extensive experience in public administration, governance, finance and institutional management. Among the most significant positions held by him was that of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG), one of the country's foremost constitutional offices. As CAG, he was entrusted with the important responsibility of overseeing the audit of the accounts and financial operations of the Union and State governments and of strengthening accountability and transparency in public administration.
His long career in public service has been characterised by administrative experience, institutional leadership and a strong commitment to probity and public accountability. His contribution to national public life has been recognised through prestigious honours, including the Padma Bhushan, one of India's highest civilian awards, conferred for distinguished service of a high order.
Beyond his distinguished administrative career, Shri Shunglu has maintained a strong association with the field of education. As Chairman of the Delhi Public School Society, he has been associated with an educational philosophy that views schooling as a means of developing not only academic competence but also character, independence of thought, social responsibility and leadership.
His vision for education places particular emphasis on preparing young people to face the challenges of a rapidly changing world. He believes that students must be encouraged to become independent thinkers and responsible decision-makers, equipped with the confidence and values necessary to make a meaningful contribution to society.
His distinguished career as a senior civil servant, his tenure as Comptroller and Auditor General of India, his national recognition through the Padma Bhushan, and his leadership of the Delhi Public School Society together provide a strong foundation for his contribution to educational institution-building.
Under his stewardship and the wider ethos of the DPS Society, the emphasis remains on creating educational institutions where academic excellence, innovation, values, discipline, service and leadership come together to prepare students not merely for successful careers, but for responsible and purposeful lives.
Let me reassure you at the very onset that the future of your child will be in the hands of a team that has inculcated the philosophy of the DPS society, which has over sixty years of innovation in education to back it.
Needless to say, our children are in the future. They are sent to school to be civilised. What they learn in school will come up again as long as they live. It is therefore our duty as parents and teachers together to make sure that our future leaders go through life equipped with all the skills that is mandatory to face the world that they will be a responsible part of, not as mere spectators, but as decision-makers; nay, leaders. Therefore, we need to make our students independent thinkers.
Delhi Public School Vadodara is run by the same management, i.e. Sanskriti Educational Society, which runs Delhi Public School, Vadodara which has earned the Distinction of being Vadodara's No. 1 School within 11 years of its existence.
